The Missouri Veterans Commission is looking for an organized and detail-driven Data Scientist. Your mission - should you choose to accept it - involves collection, validation and analysis of health care and organizational data. Position requires work in-person at Jefferson State Office Building, 205 Jefferson St., Jefferson City, MO 65109. Remote work is not an option.

EXAMPLES OF WORK

  • Assist with the collection, aggregation and validation of data
  • Respond to a variety of ad hoc data requests via tables, charts, and other visual design tools
  • Assist with the accurate and timely production of ongoing reporting as required by leadership
  • Gather critical information from meetings with various internal/external stakeholders and coordinate with other state agencies/stakeholders to ensure collaboration, comprehension and standardization of reporting and data analysis
  • Generate reports from established data systems
  • Structure and present data through visual design and concise data storytelling (dashboards)
  • Design and conduct analyses of complex health data
  • Identify and troubleshoot unanticipated problems or results
  • Communicate analysis and data results to team members and include recommendations of action items

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must demonstrate the following which may be obtained through four years of work experience as a research analyst or through completion of a bachelor’s degree in accounting, auditing, business management, finance, information technology or closely related program or some combination thereof:
  • Strong knowledge of the principles and practices of data and trend analysis
  • Ability to break down data into useful insights from many different sources
  • Experience with R for statistical analysis and Python to integrate data analysis into applications
  • Comprehensive ability to implement essential data science modeling techniques
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Strong proficiency with Tableau and Tableau Prep Builder
  • Proficient writing SQL (Structured Query Language) queries
